I am a Software Engineer in the IT Research & Development department at State Farm Insurance in Phoenix, AZ. I graduated from Arizona State University Polytechnic in Spring 2015 with a BS in Software Engineering and a focus area in Graphics and Game Development. I was also a member of Barrett, the Honors College. My primary skill is in web development, with an emphasis on UI/UX.
My job responsibilities include rapid prototyping and design of POC (proof of concept) web applications for a wide variety of use cases, most of which are confidential. I develop most often in Angular, Express, and Node, interfacing with big data technologies like Hadoop, Solr, and RabbitMQ. I have also conducted research on web components with Polymer.
My primary research area is in augmented and virtual reality. I completed an undergraduate honors thesis in 2015 on the history and cognitive foundations of virtual reality during which I created an application for the Oculus DK2 using Unreal Engine.
My senior capstone was a social media data mining and natural language processing application for GM, which you can find here. I also completed an undergraduate research project for CREU (part of the Computing Research Association) which focused on semantic technologies (like ontologies) and big data.
